Sunday 31 July 2016

I spent most of this weekend hanging out with the cutest baby on the planet! Greatest way to spend the weekend ever!!!

But once the baby went for a nap and the kids went out to visit friends, I was able to get down to my craft room to play! I finished off a canvas that I have been working on for a while.  I have been playing with this canvas for some time. I started off using some extra product from other projects but then wasn't sure where to go from there.

This is how the canvas started:

But as I said I wasn't happy with how it turned out, and I had no idea where to go from this point. So I decided to start over. I started by going over with Black Gesso and spraying it with some Dylusion Sprays and Mica Sprays.

I was definitely starting to like it better at this point, but needed to add some more color to it. And with the perfect timing of my Color Bloom 2 sprays arriving I had new colours to add to the canvas!

With it coming along so nicely I decided to add some more of my new products that just arrived - the Metallic Lustre - Copper Kettle gave it a great final pop of colour!

So once I got the background the way I wanted, I added the picture I wanted to use, along with all the embellishments I wanted to add.  I have to say I totally LOVE how it came out. Really happy I decided to start over because I ended up with a fabulous project as an end result if I do say so myself!!!

So I am off to spend some more time with the grand baby now that he is up - till next time stay crafty my peeps!!

Thursday 28 July 2016

I really do have the best husband EVER!! And he obviously listens to me when I talk about the scrapbooking stuff I want cause he came home yesterday and brought me these great goodies!!

I am totally spoiled!! Can't wait to play with them all!! Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

Tuesday 26 July 2016

FINALLY - finished a couple art journal pages. Feels like FOREVER since I did anything in any of my journals!! As usual, these started out as pages to use up extra materials. Pretty happy with the end results!

Now I want to dive back in to doing more art journaling! Gotta get back to my Inspiration Wednesday - not to mention the 4 pages I have from the fab Cori-Lyn to work on!

Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Monday 25 July 2016

I even FINALLY got some art journaling done this weekend. I have been really slacking in that department lately, but got a couple pages started.  As usual, they started out as places to use up my left over materials from other projects.  Not sure what the end results will be, but I have some ideas!

I will post pics once they are don! Till then, stay crafty my peeps!!

As I said, I got quite a bit of crafting in this weekend. As well as making a TON of envelopes, this is the other project I got done!

I used items from several of my Scraps of Elegance kits - they have the BEST stuff in them!! I was really happy with how this turned out.

Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!
I was supposed to be at a crop this weekend, but it ended up getting cancelled due to lack of attendance, so I decided to still craft anyway. I got quite a bit done too!

Fist project I finished was a class kit I got from my pal Dawn Pritchard of The Inked Stamper! She taught this class in Edmonton at The Urban Scrapbook in Edmonton. Since I couldn't attend the class I got her to send me the kit. Really loved turning the plain white frame into the cool antique look that we got. And loved playing with the Deco Art Antiquing creams - ended up trying them on a couple different in progress works too to see how they work.

Here are the stages of the frame that I did first:

And this is the final project

Of course, as usually happens with class kits that I do long distance, mine turned out slightly different - based on what she sent me and what I used of my own supplies. But I really LOVE the final result. And my husband liked that I used a picture from Dalhousie University - we visited her a few summers and he wanted to show me where he went to University. It was the perfect picture for this project!

I did more crafting too, but have to get at least some work done today, so will post more later! Till then, stay crafty my peeps!!

Friday 22 July 2016

So it looks like I am crafting VERY slowly this month! I have gotten down into my craft room for very short bursts of time! So no completed projects, but several in process! Here are some pics of what I have on the go!

I was supposed to have a crop to go to this weekend but it got cancelled due to low attendance, so I am going to craft on my own while I get my house ready for company next weekend! So on Monday I should have some completed projects to show off! Till then, stay crafty my peeps!!

Wednesday 20 July 2016

Another good day to go to the post office yesterday! My scrappy pal Cindy - who is basically the gal who got me into scrapbooking/crafting - sent my my Xmas gift. And yes, I know she was a bit late, but who cares when you get presents, right?! Anyway, she sent me the most AMAZING altered book - and she even put pics in it for me to get it started. I can't wait to keep adding photos to it!! I was so excited it came, I took a video of opening it.

And here are some other shots of the book!

Cindy DEFINITELY knows my taste!! I really miss her and hope one of these days we will get to craft together again. Gotta start planning my trip out to PEI to see her!

I did get into my craft room for a short while last night, but still no completed work to show you yet. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Monday 18 July 2016

So I had another weekend without crafting - more camping adventures with my hubby and the dogs. And we took the dogs golfing this time. That was fun!

Moose really enjoyed walking along side the cart as it was going. Zoey was much more interested in the riding aspect. Loved being in my hubby' lap. Made for some interesting times getting in and out of the golf cart! LOL

Well, I hope to get more crafting done during the week, as well as on the weekend as I am actually having a library crop. So will post more crafting pics soon. Till then, stay crafty my peeps!

Friday 15 July 2016

So I haven't spent much time in my craft room this week, so don't really have much to show project wise on the blog, but I get asked A LOT where I get my inspiration from, so thought I would show some of the tutorials on YoyTube that I have saved and that have given me some of my ideas.

Make sure to follow me on YouTube to see not only these and more videos, but to check out what I post as well. I am trying to do more of my own videos as well, so would love any feedback I could get!!

This is a video showing how to use the Luminarte Silks. These are a blast to play with!

And of course we know how much I love my Tim Holtz!

As people who follow me know, I like making mini albums. And most of my ideas for them just come from finding tutorials on YouTube. Here is one I really liked!

And of course, everyone knows how much I LOVE my Donna Downey. I have finished Inspiration Wednesday, and I am very SLOWLY making my way through IW2016. But I have also found some of her other videos on YouTube and they have inspired other journal pages and projects I have done. Here is a really good one I loved. I used the techniques in it to make a canvas for a gift for a friend.

These are just a few videos that have given me ideas, inspiration and tips for my art! Check out my YouTube channel to see others that I have shared and liked! Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

Thursday 14 July 2016

Going to the mail was AWESOME yesterday!! Not only did I get my great kit from Melinda at Scraps of Elegance, I got my order from the FABULOUS Wendy at W2Scrapbooking.  Check out all my goodies!!

Make sure you check out their sites - links are at the bottom of the page! They both have such great customer service and great products. Melinda's kits are always AMAZING and Wendy has the coolest stuff in her shop.

I can't wait to play with it all!! Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Wednesday 13 July 2016

Still haven't spent a lot of time in my craft room - too many other things going on (work, etc.). But I have been SLOWLY working on an altered frame/layout class I bought from my pal Dawn Pritchard. She did this class at The Urban Scrapbooker in the city and since I couldn't make it in for the class she sent it to me. That was ages ago and I am finally getting to it! It has been fun so far. This is my progress to date!

And when doing part three, I had leftover antiquing cream so used it to start another project. I signed up for a swap that we are supposed to do something based on Greek Mythology so thought I would use this for that project. At least that is the plan at the moment.

I hope to finish the frame tonight or tomorrow, so until next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Monday 11 July 2016

So I didn't really get into my craft room this weekend as I went camping in the Northwest Territories with my hubby and my dogs. We had a really relaxing weekend - just what I needed to recharge!

I did briefly get down into my craft room - to do the next stage of spraying for the frame class I am working on. Having fun so far and hope to do the next stage or two tonight!

Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!
