September Design Team Project

So I am a day late, but my day got away from me yesterday and I didn't remember until the end of the day. But I did get my project done so thought I would show you all how I did it! The theme for this month was School fun with the twist of books. I had this cool alterable book that opened that I wanted to use and I think that it turned out pretty good.

I got my inspiration from this great tutorial from one of the design team members for a crafty friend's store - ReneaBouquets

(Just a note - this is the second of three videos but I am only posting this one as it is the one that shows the majority of the techniques that I used.)

This is what the box looked like before doing anything to it.

Then on the inside I added some Tim Holtz tissue paper

Then on the outside of the box I added different items for texture

And on the inside of the box I added some pencils, books and chalk
to achieve the look I wanted.

The next stages were to add white gesso on the outside of the box and black gesso
all over the outside of the box

After that, I lightly brushed super heavy white gesso to the outside of the box

For the inside of the box I finished it off by glazing (as per Donna Downey!), using some teal and copper paint which I painted over the entire inside of the box and then once it sat for a second to dry I wiped away most of it with a baby wipe.

To finish off the outside of the box I applied a couple different sprays (Prima Bloom Sprays in Berry Wine and Vintage Metal Tea Stain) as well as Inka Gold (in Copper and Gold)
to get the look I was going for.

These are some photos of the finished project.

I hope you like my finished project. And make sure you check out the video where I got my inspiration - as well as Renea's shop. She has some amazing stuff and the video shows a few other techniques that I am planning on trying on other projects!

Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

As I said in my previous post, I did get some time to play while I was in my craft room packing. I got the next set of flags done for the Circle Banner Swap I am in. These are the two sets of flags that the person sending to me sent that I had to try and emulate.

So this is the first set that the first girl sent out.

Then these are the set that the next girl "copied" and sent out.

And then these next two are what I came up with to match the styles they did.

This swap is kinda fun - it is neat to see what other people do and what you can come up with when you are trying to do something similar.

I also got a chance to finish a canvas that I had started at my PMS Crop last month. I did the canvas background using the new Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks. As I was deciding what photos to take to work on at Carnival my husband and I had a disagreement over which picture of Octavia we liked better. So I am taking the one I liked better to Carnival to use on a layout. And the picture my husband liked better ended up on the canvas. This is the end result.

So I was able to play while I packed! Until next time, stay crafty my peeps!

So I think this is gonna be a crazy week - getting ready to go to the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival in Calgary on the weekend. But I think I am ready to go. This is the beginning of my packing - I did get it all done and I am actually not bringing that much stuff!! I am learning to downsize - lol!!

I also not only got a chance to play in my craft room while I was packing, I got the goodie bags for the library crop in October started. They are looking good so far!!

This is gonna be a fun week! Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

Haven't gotten down to my craft room much this week - spending a bunch of time hanging with friends and getting in a whole lot of walks with my pals!

One thing that I did get finished though was a kit that I got from the FAB Tricia Ladacouer - of course I got it AGES ago (as in over a year or more ago) and only just this week managed to finish it. I started it last year at the Grimshaw crop and finished everything but the last tag set. I finally got a chance to finish it this week. Here are the pics.

This first tag actually opens up. It is so cute!

The next tag I ended up doing slightly differently than the instructions called for - mostly because I used too much of the paper that was initially called for in the kit. But I am happy with the end result. The top tag was supposed to fit inside this tag, but again I made a bit of a boo boo so had to come up with another option. Luckily the kit had a tag in it that I could use so along with the extras I was able to finish this tag to go inside the tag I made.

This weekend I am hoping to get a bunch more crafting done, so till next time stay crafty my peeps!

More happy mail for me! I got in another order from one of my fab crafty pals - along with a very cool donation for my October crop. Check out my goodies!

And here is a picture of the prize pack!

I am hoping to finish the two tags that I showed at the end of the video after work today, so will post about them later. Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

So as I said earlier, I didn't get a whole lot of crafting in this weekend - it was our last camping trip for the year. We went to Hay River - our favourite spot - and spent the weekend hanging out with friends! We had a really great time - check out some pictures of our adventures!

Moose looks so majestic/serious. Too bad he doesn't sit this still the whole time. If he did we would let him ride in the front seat more often!

This was night one - at Duncan and Michelle's camper.

I just loved how these mushrooms looked on the log.
I took a pic cause I have to scrapbook this!

Duncan, Michelle and Phoebe at the Falls

I just love Escarpment Creek Falls - so pretty and quiet cause no one knows it is there!

I think this is a pretty good family photo!

Another shot of the falls

And the dogs were having a blast

Doug was NOT impressed that I took this picture! Moose on the other hand was loving life!

Took the dogs for several walks on the weekend - including this one in the rain. They didn't seem to mind too much being soggy!

And they were VERY  quiet on the rid home - I think we wore them out!!

I did do a bit of crafting when I got home, so will post those pics later. Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

I just LOVE being a donator/sponsor for events! I just love soaking up the attention! LOL!! Check out the cool peeps wearing the aprons I donated to the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival. These gals are at the Edmonton show.

I am really stoked about attending the Calgary show with my bestie Cathy in two weeks! Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!
